The short version
TrueBite is built to know as little about you as possible. Your food photos are never saved — they're read once to estimate calories, then gone. You can use the app without an account, and your personal body details stay on your phone unless you choose to save them.
What we collect, and why
Only what the app needs to do its job:
- Your food photo — sent once to our AI to estimate the dish, calories, and macros. It is not stored anywhere after that (see below).
- Your scan results — the dish name, calories, and macros (text only, no image) are saved to your account so you get your history and trends.
- Your daily goal — the calorie and macro targets are saved so they follow you across devices.
- Your phone number — only if you choose to enter it, so we can support your calorie tracking and reach you about your results. It is never shared with anyone else.
- If you sign in — a Google account or an email address, used only to sign you in and to reply if you contact us.
- If you contact support — your message and email, so we can reply.
We never store your food photos
This is the important one. When you scan a meal, the photo is sent to our AI provider to read it, and the result comes back as text. The photo itself is not saved on our servers, not attached to your history, and not used to train anything. It only ever lives on your own phone.
Your body details stay on your phone by default
The smart-goal quiz (sex, age, height, weight, activity, goal) is worked out right on your phone to calculate your target. The raw details are not sent to us — only the final calorie and macro numbers are saved.
There is a checkbox in the quiz: "Save my details to my account." It is off by default. If you leave it off, your body details never leave your phone. If you turn it on, they're saved to your account so the quiz can follow you to a new device. You can leave it off and the app works exactly the same.
Improving accuracy ("Fix it")
If you correct a scan with "Fix it", the dish name and your corrected numbers may be recorded so we can make estimates better over time. This is about the food, not about you — it isn't tied to your identity.
What we don't do
To be clear:
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't show ads or share your data with advertisers.
- We don't store your food photos.
- We don't ask for anything we don't need.
The services we use
TrueBite runs on a few trusted providers who process data only to make the app work: Supabase (accounts and your scan history), Anthropic (the AI that reads your photo), Resend (sends your support email to us), Vercel (hosting), and Google (only if you choose Google sign-in). Some of these store data on servers outside India, including the United States.
Your choices
You're in control:
- Use TrueBite anonymously — no name, no sign-up.
- Skip the goal quiz entirely, or leave the "save my details" box unticked.
- Ask us to delete your account and data any time — just contact us.
Children
TrueBite isn't meant for children under 13, and the goal quiz only accepts ages 13 and up. If you believe a child has used it, contact us and we'll remove the data.
A note on health
TrueBite is a calorie tracker and goal calculator, not medical advice. For anything specific to your health or a medical condition, please talk to your doctor.
